I'm actually in Washington DC right now--just got my Australian visa! So now I'm finally good to go after a long time suspense on what is going to happen regarding my visa, as they didn't send me the visa grant email three days before I am supposed to take off and refused to release any information other than "Read your email then".
I wish they had at least let me know I in fact have to come to DC so that I can prepare myself. Not only the trip was super expensive (it costs the same if I had traveled to China). I also happened to schedule a pick-up for my sea shipment on the same day. Luckily MM, aka, my super-hero bear, booked me a flight to DC and an overnight hotel room while I finished up packing.
I have had many shots of "last minute panic" but none has been so intensive. Two hours after my shipping company picked up my stuff (in 39 boxes and weighs 1080 pounds total?!), I headed for the airport. Oh, did I mention I just had less than two hours of sleep the night before for last minute packing?
