Signed up for Earth Hour, please!

Please turn off everything electronic (fridge is an exception) at home at 8pm, Saturday Mar 29 for an hour and join the rest of 116,944 of us to be part of the anti-global warming event, i.e. Earth Hour.

The idea came from Sydney last year and they even shut off the lights of the Opera House for an hour. 2.2 million Australia did then! WWF took the idea and is organizing it globally this year. Here is a summary of how many people have signed up for it by country, Canada, US and Australia are the top three.

(The also have a spinning globe with all the numbers by country. Unfortunately the globe spins in a wrong direction, MM reported. Only a geographer can notice that at first sight ;) ).

Still there are not many people in China signed up for it, I guess language is a reason. I am going to email my family and friends about it!

I know one hour doesn't help much. But the idea is to start with small things/plant a seed and let it grow...I also like the idea of being a global community, which feels heart warming. By the way, I am the 438th in Canberra who signed up for it, which means, according to MM, that one in 700 people and one in 300 households have agreed to be part of the event. Sounds pretty good!

What can we do without electricity? Sing a song to each other, have a long bath in candlelights, or as MM and Yoyo planned, nose-rubbing and kissing and hugging!
