Canberra food review--Verve

"What does the word mean?" You may ask. For sure you are not the first, because the definition of the word was written on the most prominent wall (you can see a picture here).

Verve locates in the upmarket part of Canberra called Manuka. Its decor has a rather sleek and modern looking. They used flashy green and orange for chair/couch colors to vibrate the atmosphere. One relatively homey spot is the couch area with an open fireplace--a great spot for coffee and small bites.

For a serious meal main course ranges from $20 to $30 per plate. I ordered seafood risotto--it's pretty and the seafood was fresh and tasty. The only shortcoming was that the rice itself doesn't taste so seafood-ish--I thought one should use seafood broth to cook the rice. For dessert I ordered Tiramisu. It tasted great though I don't think that was freshly made, as the cake bit wasn't very moist.

The place was quite busy the whole time we were there. It was a Thursday night and that's when people start going out for dinner. They also had ourdoor tables for those how can easily shrug off Canberra's cold night air.

Name: Verve
Location: Manuka
Price: $20~30 for main dishes, $8~15 for dessert
Food quality: fairly good
Whether will go back again: yes.
Pecularity: Toilets are uncomfortably small.
