Ben & Jerry: joy for the belly & soul
I have always been a fun, so it's not surprising to see Ben & Jerry in my freezer. But now my love towards the ice cream seems to be at a whole new level. Evidence: there are six of them sitting there.
My excuse is to test the new flavor out, a business I recently jumped into after I found out there is NO Ben & Jerry in Australia!
Yes, I cannot believe that myself either. And Yes, MM and I talked about being a franchisee.
Of course I hear negative comments about B&J, mainly from the "too pricey" and the "too dizzy" schools. The former claimed they can get much more with the same price from other brands, and the latter complained there were too many to choose from, and/or that's a sign of how customers got spoiled and lost their ability to live a simple life.
Neither bothers me. I don't eat ice cream as staple food, so what matters it's the quality not the quantity. $3~4 seems a bit too much for a pint, but if you spread it over two weeks, which is normally how long it's going to take me to finish one. It's not bad at all. Sure I was dazzled the 1st time I saw 50 flavors of B&J all together myself, but I happen to be a firm believer of "Diversity is good". Although I have no problem with people who stick to a single flavor. I myself sometimes get Vanilla to eat with kiwi fruit (my invention).
Of course B&J offers more than just the diverse flavors. They are also environmentally friendly and support local communities, both are close to my heart (therefore "Joy for the belly & soul" as they advertised). I also heard Ben spoke once and he was fun to listen to, especially when he talked about how he dropped out of schools one after another, and now everybody invites him back to give presentations...
As far as the new flavors, MM & I agreed the "Peach Cobbler" is the absolutely best. It is very "refreshing" and I can tell you that one didn't last two weeks. "Creme Brulee" is my second favorite, and it is truly delicious. Unfortunately it's a taboo for MM because it is packed with cholesterol. "Banana Split" is not bad although I can hardly taste any strawberry.
