This afternoon we signed a one-year lease for a two-bedroom apartment, which means MM & Yoyo officially have a home together now!
No, our building is not as cartoonish as the one in the picture but got a similar sense of naiveness. It is a pink/redish building that also seems to be just walking out of a fairy-tale. It faces a park, and our apartment is on the 2nd floor.
It's going to be a 15 minute walk from our home to downtown, or CBD in Australian English I should say, and a 20 minute walk to where Yoyo works. It is not as close to the CBD as MM liked and not as gardener-friendly as Yoyo dreamed. But it is within walking distance to Civic (nickname for downtown Canberra) and it got two enormous balconies for Yoyo to practice her green thumb.
Unfortunately we cannot move in until next Friday; so stay tuned for real-life pictures for our first home!
