Yesterday once more

Today MM and I were invited to his Bangladesh friend's house for Sunday lunch. Well, as least that is what it was called, but in my opinion it was a full-fledged dinner, starting with appetizer, or entree should I say (fish fingers) and ended with a hearty dessert (stuffed pancake with icecream).

There were about 10 people in total, obviously the host's friends from work and their partners. The "lunch" lasted for almost four hours and when we finally got back home, I barely kept my eyes open. Then MM asked me, "Did you enjoy yourself?"

I nodded and faded into my dreams right way. Now when I think about it, I did enjoy myself and that was mostly from a familiar feeling from childhood.

When I was rather small my grandma treated her guests exactly like the hospitable Bangladesh couple: she would cook tons of food and invited her guests to eat more whenever their plate was getting empty. She would spin around like crazy to answer her guests' need and didn't have much time, if any all, to eat a peaceful meal. She smiled at people's compliments for a second and then she was gone to fetch more food. The only way to "offend" her was to touch the dirty dishes after one finished--she got them all taken care of.

Naturally in such a diner friendly environment the only way to show one's appreciation is to eat until you drop, which is exactly what I did. I didn't feel hungry until 9pm. Well, at least we didn't bring any food home when they offered...
