I always like Easter, and it has nothing to do with its religious meaning. I like it because it is time of the year when trees turns to green, birds starts to chirp, and more importantly, there are us rabbits all over the places (at least in the supermarket).
Things are rather different this year. It is autumn now in Australia, and trees just began shedding their leaves. Rabbits, still seen here and there, have to share the limelight with their Australian mate, bilbies.
With a pair of huge pointy ears, a bilby was associated with a rabbit, and therefore was proposed to be the Australian version of Easter Bunny in late 1970s, according to the Australian Bibly Appreciation Society's website. They are endangered so it is a good way to raise people's awareness of the conservation need I suppose. But to me they look more like mice who forgot to shave their tail really.
Oh well in China we say "Follow what the host do when you are a visitor". So Happy Bilby's Day everybody!
