At least half of my love towards basil comes from my love towards pesto. I even have two pots of basils on my balcony so that we can have fresh pesto whenever we want. Basil seems to require "low maintenance" -- as long as there is sunshine it grows like bamboo after a rainfall. So far I have harvested six cups of basil leaves and today there are eight cups of them! As MM said, "I foresee a lot of pesto coming!"
