Welcome Horus!
Today we finally picked up our car, which was brought a week ago but we didn't manage to find the money to pay until now--none of our American credit cards worked so MM had to play his magic. I don't know much of the details as he is the financial manager for us.
In this past week though we came up with a name for our beloved car: Horus. It is the name of an Egyptian god, who is the Sun God with a falcon head. It fits our car perfectly because he is a powerful (4.0L engine) Ford Falcon in bright red, the color of the Sun.
I wasn't a fan of red cars but my heart skipped a beat when I spotted Horus; the same thing happened when I saw Lucy the first time. Yes, I am a firm believer of falling in love at the first sight.
No, I am not an impulsive buyer, at least not when MM is by my side. We had checked out bunch of smaller engineer cars which seemed to be the right thing to do as gas is so expensive nowadays. Unfortunately reality taught me an enormous bear and a small car just don't click. Poor MM, he did manage to fold himself in a 1.5 Toyota Echo. On our test drive list there were other big cars of similar engine/size, Holden Commodore for instance, but they are too heavy to control. It felt as if I was trying to teach a bear to tango...
In this sense Ford is just right. But we didn't stop just there. We even took another Ford Falcon for inspection along with Horus. Even that one was a newer model equipped with fancy functions such as climate control AC, it hadn't been taken care of properly and obviously needs a lot of work. Horus, on the other hand, was the eyeball of his last owner, a former employer of the car dealership where we found Horus.
So, overall Horus is a choice of both sense and sensibility. We would have got a slightly better deal if I could bargain as they do in China. But that's something I have never picked up. It was pretty painful to do but I had to do it because MM is too much of a gentleman.
Overall we are happy with our choice and now we cannot wait to explore Canberra with Horus!
