Earth Hour report

MM and I spent Earth Hour snuggling together by candlelight. My parents, in China, killed the 60 minutes by telling each other old stories. Millions of others in the world turned off their lights between 8~9 pm Saturday night.

There is still no official estimates regarding how much energy was saved globally. In Australia alone though, the National Electric Market Management Company said at least 1,000 megawatts reduction across the nation's grids, which was equivalent of two large power station being shut down.

The organizer did a great job by the way. They didn't just turn around after you signed up for the event. I got two emails before Saturday telling me what local events there would be during Earth Hour (a free-move followed by a concert in Canberra CBD e.g.)--very considerate!
